Co-Founders of Lebau & Neuworth Named Super Lawyers

Posted on by admin

BALTIMORE, MD — Super Lawyers Magazine has named the co-founders of Towson, MD-based Lebau & Neuworth (L&N) – Stephen B. Lebau and Richard Neuworth – to its annual list of top attorneys nationwide.

Super Lawyers selects attorneys based on a rigorous, multiphase rating process that combines peer nominations and evaluations with third-party research. Each candidate is then evaluated based on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis.

The objective, according to Super Lawyers’ publishers, is “to create a credible, comprehensive, and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel.”

Lebau and Neuworth were named to the Super Lawyers list for 2012 based in large part on the recognition their firm has received as one of this region’s leading laws firms in representing employees. L&N’s core practice areas include employee rights, employee benefits, pension and retirement benefits, health insurance, compensation and overtime, disability benefits, false claims and whistleblowing.

Both attorneys have distinguished careers representing individual employees. Lebau, who was recently named one of Maryland top labor lawyers, has practiced employment law for more than 20 years. During that time, he has represented employees in executive negotiations, tort and contract claims, wage-hour matters, and discrimination and harassment cases. Lebau also regularly provides counsel to his clients on employment agreement and separation packages.

Neuworth, who co-founded L&N with Lebau in 1997, has more than 25 years of experience in employee benefits, discrimination, harassment, workers compensation, and social security disability cases. A sought-after lecturer on topics of age and disability discrimination, as well as employee benefits, Neuworth is the author of numerous articles on employee benefits and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.

“It is truly an honor to be nominated by our peers and to be recognized for our work in representing employees,” says Neuworth.

The final Super Lawyers list represents no more than five percent of the lawyers in the state. The lists are published annually in state and regional editions of Super Lawyers. All lawyers selected for inclusion can be found at www.superlawyers.com.

Best Lawyers annually designates “Lawyers of the Year” in high-profile legal specialties in large legal communities. Only a single lawyer in each specialty in each community is honored as the “Lawyer of the Year.”

Best Lawyers compiles its lists of outstanding attorneys by conducting peer-review surveys in which thousands of lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity. The current, 18th edition of The Best Lawyers in America is based on more than 3.9 million detailed evaluations of lawyers by other lawyers.

Steven Naifeh, President of Best Lawyers, says, “We continue to believe – as we have believed for more than 25 years – that recognition by one’s peers is the most meaningful form of praise in the legal profession.
